Trucker, helper arrested with poppy straw in Rajbagh | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 2: Police have arrested a truck driver along with his helper in the Rajbagh area of Kathua district, they recovered contraband of poppy straw from their possession. Acting on a tip off during routine checking, a police team led by the Station House Officer of Police Station Rajbagh Inspector Bhopinder Singh on Saturday evening intercepted a truck at Kishanpur, informed the police on Sunday. The police said that they recovered 92 kgs of poppy straw filled in four gunny bags from the vehicle. Inspector Bhopinder Singh identified the driver as Sarvjeet Singh, 33 and the helper as Sukhdev Singh, both residents of Gurudaspur, Punjab. Both are currently under arrest. A case under NDPS Act has been registered and investigations into the matter has started, he added.
