Jammu, Aug 7: As part of the on-going Van Mahotsav a plantation drive was organized by Forest department at Baba Jitto Boys Hostel, University of Jammu, in collaboration with Jammu Urban Forest Department and INTACH Jammu chapter . About 90 plants of Neem, Panjtara, China Rose etc were planted. Beside these the other plants which have medicinal value like Gandilla were also planted. The plantation drive was attended by Prof. Yashpal Sharma (Provost Boys Hostel) as a chief Guest, S.M. Sahni, Ex. Director Tourism, J&K and Convener INTACH Jammu as Guest of Honour and Sh. Sunil Singh DFO Urban Jammu, J&K Forest Department as special Guest on the occasion, Dr. Jaspal Singh Warwal (Warden BJBH), Dr. Rajesh Sharma (Resident Warden BJBH) , Warden of the other hostels, Bodh Raj (Clerk), Staff of Hostel and ward boys were also present in during this plantation drive. Prof. Yashpal Sharma while speaking on the occasion said that trees not only bestow us with shade and fruits but also make campus beautiful. SM Sahni also mentioned about the existing environmental problems that we are facing today due to deforestation. He appealed all too actively participate in tree plantation drives make Jammu University and whole Jammu and Kashmir, UT clean, green and pollution-free. Dr Jaspal Singh Warden of the Hostel presented vote of thanks to Arboriculture Department of the University, Suresh Sharma , Forest Department J&K , INTACH Jammu, Chief Guest and other employees of the different hostels.
