Jammu, Aug 10: The workers of Dogra Front & Shiv Sena under the leadership of President Ashok Gupta took out a celebration rally in Jammu city for Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s move to make India “AtmaNirbhar” by Promoting “Make in India”. The Ministry of Defence on Sunday announced a list of over 100 items that would be banned for import beyond the time indicated against them. Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh asserted that this step would move India and its defence sector inch closer to become self-reliant. Rajnath Singh said that it is estimated that contracts worth almost Rs 4 lakh crore will be placed upon the domestic industry within the next six to seven years. He continued saying that out of these, items worth almost Rs 1,30,000 crore each are anticipated for the Army and the Air Force while items worth almost Rs 1,40,000 crore are anticipated by the Navy over the same period. He stated that The Prime Minister has given the slogan of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ and this clearly shows how and when it would be achieved as it is a step in the direction. It really was an historic Sunday announcement” as this is the first time ever since our independence any government has taken a step to promote defence manufacturing in India as we spend 65.86 billion dollars on the imports. This is a prime step in making India self reliant by promoting the private sector in this field which was an very old demand. |
