Dharmarth Trusts celebrates Varaha Jayanti with religious fervor in Raghunath ji Temple | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Aug 21: J&K Dharmarth Trust celebrated Varaha Jayanti with religious fervor in the premises of Shri Raghunath ji Temple here today. On this occasion, the Trust organized Pooja of Lord Varaha as per traditions and rituals by the Pujaris in the Raghunath ji Temple. “Varaha Jayanti is celebrated and dedicated to Lord Varaha. Lord Varaha is the third incarnation of Lord Vishnu. When a demon named Hiranyaksha dragged the earth to the bottom of the sea, Vishnu took the form of a boar in order to rescue it. They fought for a thousand years. Then Varaha slew the demon and raised the earth out of the water with his tusks. As per the belief, the creation legend of Prajapati (Brahma) assumed the shape of a boar in order to lift the earth up out of the primeval waters,” a Head Pujari of the Trust said. As per belief, it is believed that worshipping Lord Varaha brings prosperity, happiness and good health to the devotees. Half boar half-human Varaha had defeated Hiranyaksha and destroyed all evils. Thus, devotees worship him and pray for goodness to prevail. The Trust officials prayed to Lord Varaha for lasting peace, brotherhood and communal harmony in the state of Jammu and Kashmir and also prayed for early passage of chronic disease COVID-19. |
