SRINAGAR, Aug 21: The COVID-19 death toll in Jammu & Kashmir has reached 593 as 15 more people died due to virus in past 24 hours. The positive cases in the union territory reached 31,371 as 654 fresh cases of virus were reported today. Srinagar and Budgam districts each reported four fresh Corona Virus deaths followed by Baramulla district three deaths and a death each in Pulwama, Anantnag, Shopian and Kupwara districts. So far 551 COVID-19 deaths have taken place in Kashmir valley while as in Jammu 42 such deaths have taken place. Srinagar reported 206 fresh cases of Corona Virus followed by Budgam 68 cases, Jammu 63 cases, Bandipora 52 cases, Baramulla 51 cases, Anantnag 45 cases, Kulgam 40 cases, Pulwama 33 cases, Kupwara 29 cases, Ganderbal 16 cases, Udhampur 13 cases, Kathua and Doda 11 cases, Kishtwar five cases, Rajouri three cases and Ramban, Samba, Reasi & Poonch two cases each. The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 654 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 114 from Jammu division and 540 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 31,371. Also 15 COVID-19 deaths have been reported from Kashmir Division. Moreover, 580 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 119 from Jammu Division and 461 from Kashmir Division. Out of 31,371 positive cases, 6,973 are active positive, 23,805 have recovered and 593 have died; 41 in Jammu division and 552 in Kashmir division. Out of 8, 44,641 test results available, 8, 13,270 samples have tested negative till date. Additionally, till date 4, 26,670 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for observation which included 42,078 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 6,973 in isolation and 43,232 under home surveillance. Besides, 3, 33,794 persons have completed their surveillance period. The bulletin said that Srinagar has 7,614 positive cases, 1,237 active positive, 6,188 recovered, 189 deaths; Baramulla has 2,586 positive cases, 584 active positive, 1,909 recovered, 93 deaths; Pulwama has 2,238 positive cases, 415 active positive, 1,781 recovered, 42 deaths; Budgam has 2,044 positive cases, 555 active positive, 1,439 recovered, 50 deaths; Anantnag has 1,992 positive cases, 433 active positive, 1,515 recovered, 44 deaths. “Kulgam has 1793 positive cases, 233 active positive, 1,529 recovered, 31 deaths; Kupwara has 1753 positive cases, 514 active positive, 1,199 recovered, 40 deaths; Bandipora has 1748 positive cases, 852 active positive, 874 recovered, 22 deaths; Shopian has 1617 positive cases, 124 active positive, 1,466 recovered, 27 deaths and Ganderbal has 1,110 positive cases, 543 active positive, 553 recovered, 14 deaths,” reads the bulletin. The bulletin said that Jammu has 2,196 positive cases, 656 active positive, 1,511 recovered, 29 deaths; Rajouri has 804 positive cases, 93 active positive, 708 recovered, 03 deaths; Kathua has 706 positive cases, 115 active positive, 590 recovered, one death; Udhampur has 693 positive cases, 84 active positive, 607 recovered, two deaths; Ramban has 634 positive cases, 25 active positive, 608 recovered, one death. “Samba has 610 positive cases, 178 active positive, 431 recovered, one death; Doda has 363 positive cases, 56 active positive, 305 recovered, two deaths; Reasi has 342 positive cases, 190 active positive, 152 recovered; Poonch has 337 positive cases, 65 active positive, 270 recovered, two deaths and Kishtwar has 191 positive cases, 21 active positive, 170 recovered,” reads the bulletin. Out of 31,371 positive cases in J&K, 5,764 have been reported as travelers. The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least 2 meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory. |
