JAMMU, Aug 21: Childline Jammu, nodal organization, Department of Law University of Jammu, conducted a special ration distribution and child nutrition awareness drive in the slum areas of Lower Muthi, Jammu. The drive was targeted to sensitize the slum dwellers about the special nutritional needs of the children and they were also made aware about various problems arising because of current situation and how to tackle the same effectively. Malnutrition among children is a major problem all around the globe but specifically in our country it’s a matter of grave concern. Jammu and Kashmir witnesses a great rush of migrant child labourers and due to the current crisis every sector of the society has suffered. In this scenario we need to pay special attention to the physical needs of the children. It is also pertinent to mention here that Childline (1098) is a national emergency service for thechildren who are in need of care and protection and works 24×7. The project is supported by Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India. The programme was conducted under the guidance of Prof Kulwant Singh, Nodal Director/ HOD, Law Department, University of Jammu. The activities were conducted under the supervision of Rohit Khajuria, city coordinator and a team of volunteers namely Vineet Sharma, Akshay Kumar, Sushank Sharma and Sachin Thapa. |
