The newly married couple, who were taken into preventive custody, could not be contacted but, the relatives of the groom informed that that marriage was solemnized by the Public Notary Nowshera and as per the rituals the couple got married in a temple in presence of the family members of groom and mother of the bride on July 14, 2020. SHO Nowshera, Amit Singh when contacted said that no case has been registered against the couple. “Duo was taken into preventive custody, as there was resentment among the community leaders over inter-caste marriage, bride and groom were taken into preventive custody, but no case has been registered, they will be freed in the evening”, he added. Both the offices, according to the sources, told the community members that both the bride and the groom have been given consent for the marriage by their family and no case can be filed as both of them are adults. The bride’s mother alleged that some relatives are threatening her family of dire consequences. “Today, I have submitted a written complaint to SDPO, Nowshera,” she said, adding that both the bride and the groom were set free by the Police this evening.
