Heavy rain lashes Doda-Kishtwar, brings respite from scorching heat | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Kishtwar, Aug 21: People residing in Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban heaved a sigh of relief from scorching heat and humidity as several areas of these hilly districts witnessed heavy rainfall since early morning while in some places the downpour began last evening. As per the details available with Early Times, Kishtwar and Doda District including Bhaderwah experienced light to heavy drizzles since last 24 hours but today the rainfall was bit heavy there by flooding streets and roads and exposing the preparedness of the Municipal authorities to deal with monsoon fury. In Kishtwar the road and drains from Dak Bungalow Chowk to new DC office once again remain chocked at many places since the drains on both side of the every busy road was blocked as National Highway authority of India fail to clean these drains that are continuously posing threat leading to health hazards. As rainfall continues in all the three Districts, the temperature has dramatically come down with cool breeze swept the whole region as a result of which the people in higher reaches were forced to wear light woolen cloths. The people said that due to three months long drought in Kishtwar, the agriculture sector suffered badly and the crops suffered massive damages. They informed that due to drought, there will be a shortage of cattle fodder in many areas of Kishtwar and Doda District during winters. The people called upon the authorities to take stock of damages suffered by the farmers due to drought.
