| VRS Union holds protest, demands release of pending dues | | |

JAMMU, Aug 24: VRS Union held a demonstration here today at Exhibition Ground near Press Club of Jammu under the leadership of its president Dev Raj Bali.
During the protest, slogans were raised against the Finance Department and SRTC Management as the protesters alleged that these two are hell bent upon to harass them and that these authorities are in hand in glove with each other in troubling them.
Speaking on the occasion Dev Raj Bali said that we are struggling for the last more than 7 years for our legitimate dues. Whereas we were promised that our dues will be cleared within 60 days from the date of our VRS/GHS but sorry to state here that more than 7 years but till date our dues are not cleared and in this long struggle of 7 years our 39 VRS/GHS have breathed their last as they did not afford medical treatment for want of funds.
Who is responsible for irreparable losses to their families? he added. We are struggling for the last more than 7 years for our 50% balance payments of our legitimate dues for cost of living allowance (COLA) arrears, bill of which comes to Rs.16,76,49,497.00 and 6th pay commission arrears and bonus @8.33%.
Bali appealed to the Lt Governor J&K UT to take cognizance of the matter so that our balance 50% payments be released. |
