Say admin violated norms

Early Times Report

Srinagar, Aug 24: Even as the SK Institute of Medical Sciences Soura here has come under scanner for appointment of around two dozen doctors as Senior Residents for various departments without holding the mandatory interview or even looking at their academic merit, some of the dropped candidates have knocked the doors of Raj Bhawan.
The doctors have written a letter to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to personally look into the gross injustice saying: “We too applied for the post of SRs, which were supposed to be interviewed and then ratified by the Designated Selection Committee constituted for the purpose.”
The doctors said “That on the date of declaration of results one candidate namely (name with held ) was selected without following any laid down procedure and that the selection result was issued simultaneously with the result list, which is unheard of and thereby creating impression that the Authorities of the institute already knew who had passed, which is against the spirt of secrecy and points to manipulation of results.”
“That none of us or even from other Departments were called for interview and simultaneous ratification by the Designated Selection Committee, which is against the basis of our constitution of Right to equality in terms of employment and a brazen violation of Article 14 as enshrined in our constitution,” the doctors said.
“That the whole fraud has been done under the garb of COVID Pandemic, which is unheard , as the persons appointed are specialist and not junior residents and are supposed to help post graduate Students and not actively be involved in COVID Duties.”
“It is therefore requested that in view of above averments, the wrong may kindly be corrected by rescinding the list Abinto and un do the injustice done by the vested interests at the institution and also take necessary measures for making the process transparent so that the rights of nobody are trampled and Spirit of our constitution is held high.”
It is pertinent to mention that the SKIMS vide SIMS/ACAD/ 506 OF 2020 dated : July 24, 2020 made appointments for a period of one year on the pretext of Covid-19.
“In view of exigency on account of management of COVID-19, sanction is hereby accorded to the engagement of candidates annexed as (ANNEXURE-A) of this order as Stipendiary Senior Residents in. the Departments shown against each initially for a period of one year. The tenure engagement of Senior Residency shall be governed by the following terms and conditions. . The engagee(s) shall be entitled to a monthly stipend of Rs.67700/- plus usual allowances as admissible under rules.”
The SKIMS have been denying allegations of favoritism while the administration say the appointments were made in the interest of administration.
