CF concerned over move to approach Court for dissolution of SMVDSB | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Aug 30: Citizens’ Forum (CF) has expressed concern over the moves to approach Court for dissolution of SMVD Board on the pretext that it is our heritage and government should not interfere. Senior most members from various walks of life requested LG Manoj Sinha to note the concern of Jammu citizens that certain people have approached court for dissolution of SMVD Board. R K Chadha, president of the Forum said that we are not against the Baridars, they must be passing through difficult economic conditions, for that government should look to their requirements separately. Chadha said that government is not managing the Vaishno Devi yatra but it is managed by the Board which is formally under the Government. He further said that it seems that these people don't have in mind the pathetic condition of Vaishno Devi yatra before formation of Board, adding that the tracks, accommodation, environment and eating facilities have improved to the best standard after formation of the Board. He said not only these facilities improved but a full-fledged university and a well-equipped hospital for benefit of locals have come up after formation of the Board. Chadha said that because of the class facilities the number of Yatris reached from few thousand to one crore and more, thus a booster for local business and economy. However, we demand to make the board more effective and transparent with replacement of outside members, who are neither conversant with local culture and aspirations nor familiar with topography, ecology and working conditions of the area.
