Martyr’s son aspires to follow footsteps of his father, wipe out terrorism | | | MS Nazki Early Times Report
Poonch , Aug 30: The mortal remains of Assistant Sub- Inspector (ASI) of Jammu and Kashmir Police, Babu Ram martyred in an encounter with terrorists at Pantha Chowk in Srinagar last night were brought to his home town Poonch on Sunday. Hundreds of people had gathered to pay their last tributes to the martyred ASI. The martyr’s son, Manik Sharma said, “It’s a matter of pride for us, not everyone gets to be draped in the tricolor. My family is proud of my father’s sacrifice. I will follow the footsteps of my father and join the belt force to wipe out terrorism from J&K.” He said, “But we can’t just keep feeling proud. We are proud today, someone gets martyred tomorrow, we will be proud again. The government needs to take decisive action against the terrorists and their sponsors.” An elaborate wreath laying ceremony was organized at Police Headquarters Mendhar. Soldiers of 37 RR, ITBP and Jammu and Kashmir Armed Police were present for the wreath laying ceremony and presenting the mourning guard of honor (Shok Shastra) to the slain martyr and wreath laying. Those who laid the wreaths and paid tributes included DC Poonch Rahul Yadav, Second in Command 37 RR Lt.col KS Prashant, SSP Poonch. Rakesh Angral, SDM Mendhar Dr Sahil Jandyal, Tehsildar Mendhar Dr. Vikram Kumar SDPO Mendhar Neeraj Padyaar.SHO Mendhar Manzoor Kohli , ex-servicemen and others also were in attendance. |
