JAMMU, Aug 30: To pay honour and respect to ASI Babu Ram who attained martyrdom while fighting against militants at Pantha Chowk area of Srinagar, wreath laying ceremony was held at District Police Lines Srinagar where floral tributes were paid to the martyr.
Advisor to Lt Governor UT, R R Bhatnagar led officers and personnel in paying homage to the martyr.
ADGP CID RR Swain, ADGP Coordination SJM Gillani, ADGP Hqdrs/L&O A.G. Mir, IG CRPF(Ops) Rajesh Kumar Yadav. IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar, IG CRPF Adm. P. K. Panday, DIG CKR Sulaiman Choudhary, SSP Srinagar Dr M Haseeb Mughal other officers, colleagues of the martyr paid rich tributes and laid floral wreaths on the mortal remains of the martyr.
Later, the martyr's body was sent to Mendhar in Poonch district where it was handed over to his family for last rites.
Besides officers from civil and police administration, a large number of people had assembled near the premises of Police Station Mendhar where the body of the martyred police officer was brought on its arrival.
Among those who present included District Development Commissioner Poonch, Rahul Yadav SSP Poonch Ramesh Angral, Lt Col P S Prashant, SDM Mendhar Dr Sahil Jandyal SDPO Neeraj Padyar, Tehsildar Dr Vikram Kumar Sharma and SHO Manzoor Kohli.
