BSP resents over irregularities in issuance of Domicile Certificates

Jammu, Sept 5: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) J&K unit expressed resentment over the irregularities in issuance of Domicile Certificates to the permanent residents of the Union Territory.
Led by Raman Kumar, BSP President, Kathua District, a delegation of general public met Somraj Majotra, President J&K UT and apprised him of the step-motherly treatment being faced by the common masses while applying for the Domicile Certificates.
The deputation members apprised Majotra that the government is issuing Domicile Certificates in two Classes comprising 1-A and 1-B. 1-A is for those having Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC) while 1-B for those non-PRCs holders. They said that there is a deliberate attempt to deprive the wards of PRC holders from attaining Domicile Certificate in Class 1-A.
Majotra gave a patient hearing to the BSP deputation and expressed resentment against the authorities for issuing Domicile Certificates in category to the actual permanent residents of J&K. While quoting the media reports, Majotra asserted that even some influential persons including ‘outsiders’ living in J&K for the past some years are getting domicile certificates without any hindrances while the poor and permanent residents of J&K are bearing the brunt of official apathy. He criticised the authorities concerned for undue harassment being faced by common masses while issuing Domicile Certificates. He assured the delegation that he will take the issue with the higher authorities for its immediate redressal.
BSP UT President, Majotra also appealed to the Lt Governor, Manoj Sinha to intervene into the matter and direct the concerned authorities for not adopting lackadaisical attitude while issuing the Domicile Certificates so that genuinely eligible residents of J&K may get the Domicile Certificates on time and in a transparent manner.
The deputation comprised of Jugal Kishore, Rohit Bhagat, Jia Lal, Manohar Lal, Sukhdev, Ram Lal, Mohinder Pal, Tara Chand, Bobby Kumar and others.
