JKCCTU holds protest, demands roll back of labour, farm bills | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
SRINAGAR, Sept 29: Large number of Trade union leaders, activists and employees including dozens of women activists held a protest demonstration at Press Colony, Srinagar and at Electric Complex Panama Chowk Jammu today against the recent anti-labour and anti-farmer bills passed in the parliament and demanded their immediate rollback. The protest was held as a part of nationwide protest call given by AISGEF under the banner of J&K Co-ordination Committee of Trade Unions (JKCCTU). Md. Maqbool President JKCCTU & National Secretary AISGEF while addressing at Press Colony, Srinagar said that the present Central Govt. under Modi’s leadership is pursuing the disastrous economic and anti-working class policies and using the present Covid pandemic situation which created havoc in the country. The recent Anti-labour reforms and anti-farmer bills to favour the corporate sector passed in the parliament while by passing all the parliamentary and democratic norms has generated widespread resentment throughout the country and the entire working class and the farmers are on the streets to fight these policies. He while demanding the immediate roll back of these bills urged the workers, employees and peasants to intensify their moment and force the GOI to withdraw these draconian bills. He also demanded the UT administration of J&K to formulate a wage and regulation policies immediately for all temporary workers and fix the minimum wage not less than Rs 18000 pm, withdraw the recent decision to freeze the DA for govt employees and pensioners, restore full democratic and trade union rights and release the pending salary for helpers to supervisors of ICDS and also ensure promotion of MPHW employees and settlement of all pending pension cases regarding SRO 59 without further delay. Similar rally was also addressed by Gurmeet Singh, General Secretary JKCCTU at Panama Chowk Jammu. He while criticizing the anti-labour and anti-farmer legislations demanded to stop the privatization of power sector and ensure safety measures to all employees working as frontline workers to fight the Covid pandemic and demanded their insurance cover like health workers. |
