Postings on performance! Sinha’s mantra for administrative reshuffle
9/29/2020 11:43:01 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Sept 29: In a bid to gear up administrative efficiency in Jammu and Kashmir, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has decided to allot postings to officials as per their performance and that a major reshuffle was on the cards in the Union Territory. Sources said in the last over a month since Sinha took over, official machinery had come up with lists for transfers but that he put such process on hold.
Sources said Sinha has told both civil and police administration that posting should be done “purely on the basis of performance” and that “a special mechanism to evaluate efficiency of officials has been evolved.” It was reliably learnt that Sinha and his office are personally monitoring performance of all the IAS, IPS, KAS and KPS officials in Jammu and Kashmir and their previous track record was also being checked to decide about the next postings.
While a major reshuffle in police and civil administration has been on the cards for the last few months, sources said Sinha wants to go ahead with the process in a way that the common people get benefitted the most.
Sources said the officials have been conveyed that their “appreciation on social media won’t matter much and that the public satisfaction on the ground would decide their postings.”
It was reliably learnt that Sinha personally checks the efficiency of the officials by interacting with them on phone and getting updates about the various developmental schemes underway.
Sources said a special team has been also established to monitor the performance of the officials.
Sources said the Raj Bhawan is also looking into the allegations that if any performing official has been sidelined. “Each and every aspect of performance is being rated on the scale of ten and if any official has been unduly sidelined, is also being verified,” said a senior official on the condition of anonymity.
