Police officer ‘abuses’ COVID-19 warriors in Rajouri | DAJ demands his suspension, threatens protest | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Oct 3: Doctors Association Jammu on Saturday demanded action against a police officer, who allegedly abused the COVID-19 warriors in Rajouri district. The DAJ also threatened to call for protest across the Union Territory if the police officer is allowed to ‘get away’ due to any reason. According to the details available with Early Times the police officer Mehmood Khan of Suian Balakote posted at Manjakote in Rajouri district was scheduled to give his sample for COVID-19 test at sub district hospital Mendhar this morning. “However, a technician, who had to collect the sample, was caught somewhere and couldn’t reach on time. This infuriated the police officer and he hurled choicest of invectives on the on duty staff,” sources said. They said that incident snowballed into a major controversy and staff of sub district hospital Mendhar went on strike to protest the derogatory remarks against the COVID warriors who are at forefront in the war against the virus. After assurances by local and district administration medicos resumed their duties to ensure that patients don’t suffer. Meanwhile, Doctors Association Jammu urged the Lieutenant Governor to suspend the police officer and lodge a FIR against him. “If timely action is not taken against the police officer the DAJ will call for protest across the Union Territory,” the spokesman of the association said.
