SRINAGAR, Oct 3: A Kashmiri Pandit body has sought registration of an FIR against government officials for allegedly encroached upon Temple land in North Kashmir’s Lolab area. Chairman Reconciliation, Return & Rehabilitations of Migrants Satish Mahaldar has written a letter to SSP Kupwara seeking registration of FIR against government officials for allegedly encroaching upon a temple land. As per the latter, a copy of which lies with Early Times, Mahaldar said, “We Kashmiri Pandits are in deep state of shock after hearing selective irrigation department officials deliberately encroached Kashmiri Pandits’ temple/cremation land in Tilwanpora, Lalpora Lolab under khasara Number 1439 with over 8 kanals of land as per revenue records. Noticing the activity, the local Kashmiri Muslims approached the concerned Tehsildar, urging the office to restrain the work by the Irrigation Department. The officials from the Tehsil office after assessing development on the mentioned spot, directed the Irrigation Department to maintain the status-quo and thereby stopped the work with immediate effect.” “Since we all know Deputy Commissioner /Divisional commissioner Kashmir is the custodian of all Kashmiri Pandits properties in Kashmir valley we are unable to understand without the approval of the deputy commissioner who has authorized state govt officials to encroach temple land & construct Dam /Drain on private property of Hindus of Kashmir. In this regard, we request your good self for kind intervention in the matter and urge your good self to lodge an FIR against officials who has directed to encroach the temple/cremation land of Hindus without Deputy Commissioner’s approvals,” the letter reads.
