GDC Billawar Celebrates Gandhi Jayanti

Bilawar, Oct 3: The commemoration period of 151th Birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi Ji was concluded on 2nd October 2020 and to celebrate the said event NSS, Cultural Committee and NCC unit of Government Degree College Billawar conducted series of events in phased manner.The series of event were organized under the overall supervision and guidance of Prof. Sunil Uppal,Principal of the college. The event was started by formal speech ofPrincipal GDC Billawar, in which he stressedupon relevance of Gandhian philosophy in present scenario and its effectiveness. The following events were organized online in step wise manner to celebrate the commemoration period of Birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi Ji.
In the series of events, firstly online Essay Writingcompetition was organized on 12th of Sep 2020 on the theme of “Relevance of Gandhian philosophy of swaraj- vocal for local”. The college students voluntarily and actively participated in the said event. The 1st prize was won by Shuvam Mankotia (GDC Billawar) of Semester V, 2nd and 3rd prize won by Akanksha Sharma (GDC Billawar) and Akhil Sudan (GDC Billawar) of Semester III respectively.
The online Slogan writing competition wasorganized on 17th Sep 2020 on the themeof “Swachta Hi Seva”.
The third online event organized was Cleanliness drive and Plantation drivesat home/college campus on 22 Sep2020 and 24 Sep 2020. Faculty members and Students participated actively in the event at their home and at college and shared pics of cleanliness drive on social media for wider awareness.
The students of the college also organized a Swachata Pakhwarain the campus along with teaching and non teaching faculty of the college.
The whole drive served the purpose to make the campus clean and green. NSS and NCC wing of the college actively participated in the said event to make it a successful event.
Singing competition on Gandhi Ji’s bhajan was organized on 28 Sep 2020and student namely Mancy Khajuria won the prize and shared audio of singing bhajan(Bhajan Bapu Ji Humara) on social platform.
To conclude the whole event online awareness campaign was organized on theme of Gandhi Ji’s contribution in Indian Independence on 2nd Oct 2020. Students prepared videos on Gandhi Ji’s effort in national freedom and shared on social platform for awareness of the masses. The concerned faculty members also shared the Gandhi Ji’s contribution in Indian Independence with the students on the topic Champaran Satyagarah, Kheda Satyagrah, Khilafat Movement, Non-Cooperation Movement, Salt satyagarah, Quit India Movement).
The 1st prize was won by Shuvam Mankotia(GDC Billawar) of Semester V, 2nd and 3rd prize won by Surjit Kumar (GDC Billawar) and Mancy Khajuria (GDC Billawar) of Semester V and III respectively.
