Udhampur, Oct 4: Realizing the drifting away of citizens from their fundamental duties, ‘Senior Citizens Club (Registered) Udhampur’ (SCCU) in collaboration with ‘District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Udhampur organized a public awareness program, on fundamental duties of citizens as enshrined in Article 51-A of The Indian Constitution, attended by members of the Club, President ‘Jio aur Jeene Do’ and large section of the society with due care of distancing and other SOPs. Sanjit Bavoria elaborated various provision contained in the constitution regarding fundamental duties of the citizens such as: Abide by the Indian Constitution and respect its ideals and institutions, the National Flag and the National Anthem, Uphold and protect the sovereignty, unity and integrity of India To promote harmony and the spirit of common brotherhood, To protect and improve the natural environment etc. and impressed upon every citizen to follow them. Speaking on the occasion President of the Club Mahadeep Singh Jamwal said that the way in today’s scenario, when we come across events of damage to public property, dishonoring of our national flag, disrespect to the Constitution, cracks in our common brotherhood, devaluation of our rich heritage and many more troubling events, it is reflection of the diversions of our citizens or we do not have any knowledge of fundamental duties shouldered upon us by our Constitution. |
