EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, Oct 4: My son was not killed in road accident, but murdered by our ‘rivals’ and paradoxically police is not investigating on same perspective created by his killers, said Kali Devi, mother of Sharu Lal, who mysteriously died in a road accident in Mashka area along Bani-Basohli road on 27th of August this year.
Kali Devi, a labourer while narrating her suffering said that her son was a driver and was killed by the family, who has a long enmity with us. “My son, who got married one and half months before his murder, on that fateful day left for Kathua to get medical check of his ailing cousin at Kathua hospital, as she was to be admitted in the hospital, Sharu returned back late on same night but his cell phone turned switch off which was a strange thing, we tried to contact him multiple times but it was futile thus we started to locate him on the way from home to Kathua hospital ”, said the helpless mother recalling what she had suffered.
“We searched the entire area on Jindrali along the road the next day (28th August), it was completely a futile exercise. On August 29, late in the evening we came to know that his body had been recovered from the exact place where we had already searched minutely”, she said, adding that but the killers had created a scene to escape actions and misled Police’s investigation.
“Unfortunately, the same thing is happening now. Basohli Police believe that it was an accident not murder. However, I am deeply disappointed with the role of police, my second son Tilak appeared before the SSP Kathua, who directed Basohli Police to take appropriate action, but the police is forcing us to enter into a compromise with the rival family (victim and alleged accused)”, she said, adding that she lost her husband 17 years back, who happened to be a labourer at Bangalore. “I have four sons, one is mercilessly murdered, another is handicapped, third son has recently undergone throat surgery”, she said, adding that the accused party is financially strong and they have convinced police with a half cooked story and police is also relying on them.
It is pertinent to mention here that in infamous Gharota shoot out murder case, SIT was constituted following IGP Jammu Mukesh Singh’s intervention. Subsequently, SIT successfully worked-out the case after two months, otherwise, earlier police kept interrogating persons framed in the case by the actual accused person, here in this case, again, IGP Jammu’s intervention is required to deliver justice to the victim family.
However, when contacted, SHO Ashwani Kumar said that police is investigating all aspects of the case. “I along with my SDPO visited the spot for first hand information and a medical report is still awaited”, he added.
