DS, Team Jammu urge Govt to teach Dogri language at Primary level | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 4: Dogri Sanstha, Jammu and Team Jammu today jointly urged the government to start teaching Dogri language at Primary level of Education. A joint meeting of Members of Dogri Sanstha Jammu and Team Jammu was held here today, during which the participants highlighted the urgent need for teaching Dogri language at Primary level of School education. While addressing the meeting, Professor Lalit Magotra, President Dogri Sanstha Jammu, said that Dogri language should have been taught at the primary level, at least since 2006 , when the education department of the erstwhile state of Jammu & Kashmir issued an order to this effect, as a state policy. But this order was never followed in true letter and spirit. However the recent turn of events, which has resulted in Dogri being accorded the status of official language of Union Territory of J&K, has made it imperative to teach Dogri right from the very basic level of Education to groom manpower to handle the challenges before this language. This means motivating and training Primary level teachers for this task, creating infrastructure for training and making available books etc. The Government must exhibit its earnestness in achieving this goal. |
