JK reports 648 fresh cases of Corona Virus, six deaths reported in 24 hours

SRINAGAR, Oct 15: The total number of COVID-19 positive cases in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reached 86,057 as 648 fresh cases of virus were reported today. The death toll reached 1,358 after six fresh deaths were reported in past 24 hours.
Srinagar district reported 182 fresh cases of Corona Virus followed by Jammu district 120 cases, Kishtwar district 41 cases, Budgam district 39 cases, Pulwama district 35 cases, Baramulla district 32 cases, Ganderbal district 29 cases, Poonch district 23 cases, Bandipora district 22 cases, Doda district 21 cases, Kupwara district 19 cases, Anantnag and Rajouri districts 17 cases each, Kathua district 15 cases, Samba district 11 cases, Udhampur district 10 cases, Ramban district six cases, Kulgam and Reasi districts four cases each and Shopian district one case. Srinagar and Jammu districts reported two deaths each followed by a death each in Baramulla and Pulwama districts. So far 913 Corona Virus deaths have taken place in Kashmir valley while as in Jammu division the number of such deaths is 445.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 648 new positive cases of novel Corona virus (COVID-19), 268 from Jammu division and 380 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 86,057. Also 06 COVID-19 deaths have been reported; two from Jammu division and four from Kashmir Division.
Moreover, 1,323 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 334 from Jammu Division and 989 from Kashmir Division. Out of 86,057 positive cases, 9058 are active positive, 75,641 have recovered and 1,358 have died; 445 in Jammu division and 913 in Kashmir division.
Out of 19, 29,126 test results available, 18, 43,069 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 6, 21,450 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 24,518 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 9,058 in isolation and 50,108 in home surveillance. Besides, 5, 36,408 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 17,246 positive cases, 1,790 active positive, 15,129 recovered, 327 deaths; Budgam has 5,554 positive cases, 584 active positive, 4,880 recovered, 90 deaths; Baramulla has 5,065 positive cases, 1,298 active positive, 3,634 recovered, 133 deaths; Pulwama has 4,351 positive cases, 265 active positive, 4,011 recovered, 75 deaths; Kupwara has 3,986 positive cases, 237 active positive, 3,679 recovered, 70 deaths.
“Anantnag has 3,860 positive cases, 319 active positive, 3,471 recovered, 70 deaths; Bandipora has 3,774 positive cases, 329 active positive, 3,403 recovered, 42 deaths; Ganderbal has 3,254 positive cases, 269 active positive, 2,955 recovered, 30 deaths; Kulgam has 2,361 positive cases, 82 active positive, 2,236 recovered, 43 deaths and Shopian has 2,112 positive cases, 111 active positive, 1,968 recovered, 33 deaths,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 15,750 positive cases, 1,206 active positive, 14,312 recovered, 232 deaths; Rajouri has 3,074 positive cases, 408 active positive, 2,621 recovered, 45 deaths; Udhampur has 2,547 positive cases, 161 active positive, 2,361 recovered, 25 deaths; Doda has 2,443 positive cases, 392 active positive, 2,011 recovered, 40 deaths; Kathua has 2,304 positive cases, 64 active positive, 2,211 recovered, 29 deaths.
“Poonch has 2,070 positive cases, 656 active positive, 1,392 recovered, 22 deaths; Samba has 2,034 positive cases, 398 active positive, 1,612 recovered, 24 deaths; Kishtwar has 1,629 positive cases, 197 active positive, 1421 recovered, 11 deaths; Ramban has 1,477 positive cases, 95 active positive, 1,371 recovered, 11 deaths and Reasi has 1,166 positive cases, 197 active positive, 963 recovered, six deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 86,057 positive cases in J&K, 9,306 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
