Stopping Farooq from offering prayers, gross violation of rights: Mehbooba | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Oct 30: Farooq Abdullah was stopped from leaving his Srinagar residence to offer prayers at the Hazratbal shrine on the occasion of Milad-un-Nabi, the National Conference (NC) has claimed. The NC said on its Twitter handle on Friday, “J&K administration has blocked the residence of Party President Dr Farooq Abdullah and stopped him from offering prayers at Dargah Hazratbal. JKNC condemns this infringement of fundamental right to pray, especially on the auspicious occasion of Milad Un Nabi SAW.” Farooq Abdullah was supposed to visit the Hazratbal shrine, on the banks of the Dal Lake, to offer prayers. PDP chief and a member of the Gupkar alliance, Mehbooba Mufti, said the move to stop Farooq Abdullah from offering prayers exposes Centre’s “deep paranoia.” “Preventing Farooq sahab from offering prayers on Milad Un Nabi SAW at Hazratbal exposes GOI’s deep paranoia & their iron fist approach towards J&K. Its a gross violation of our rights & is highly condemnable,” Mehbooba Mufti wrote on Twitter. |
