Panchayat Chamber to boycott DDC polls | | | Early Times Report POONCH, Nov 7: The residents of panchayat Chamber have decided to boycott DDC elections as they are deprived of basic needs like water and electricity. The locals said that they are without water for the last 12 months, adding that the water line which went out of order about a year ago could not be repaired till date due to which the locals are suffering badly. The administrative apathy of the PHE Department can be gauged from the fact the residents of panchayat Chamber Ward Nos 2, 3, 4 and 5 of Block Mandi are forced to drink polluted water from the stream. The only transformer of Ward Numbers 2, 3 and 4 is in pathetic condition as after every two months it needs repair. From last 10 days people are forced to live under darkness. People demanded that two more transformers must be installed for public so that electricity supply must not be interrupted. The linemen of PDD are not available on the ground when needed and their negative attitude towards their duties was complained by the locals. The ward 2, 3 and 5 is comprised of habitat of about 1000 population approximately and are forced to drink polluted water and live under darkness. Social activist Nadeem Lone said that they continuously contacted administrative officials through social media like twitter and had telephonic conversations with concerned JE, Jal Shakti Department and PDD and even DDC Rahul Yadavand Tehsildar Mandi Shehzad Latif Khan but only assurances were given and nothing on ground was delivered. |
