Five days training programme on Pisciculture concludes | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 10: Fisheries Unit of SKUAST-J, Chatha under the overall guidance of Vice Chancellor Dr J P Sharma and Dean, Faculty of Agriculture, Dr D P Abrol organized five days training program on Pisciculture to give insight into technical knowhow for fish farming practices including pond preparation, stocking and post-stocking management with special reference to water quality and health management, fish feed formulation and feeding strategies, fish processing and value addition. The training programme was organised in collaboration with 118 Medium Regiment, Jammu for Serving soldiers, Ex-servicemen and local population of J&K in which fifteen participants participated and concluded today. In the valedictory function, the Chief Guest Prof D P Abrol, Dean, Faculty of Agriculture, SKUAST-Jammu suggested that fish farming should be promoted among farming community and urged the participants to take up fish farming scientifically and remain in constant touch with the University for Sustainable Higher Production. Colonel Mohammad Ali, from 118 Medium regiment exhorted the participant to adopt Pisciculture as alternative source of income. He also expressed his hope that training would bridge the gap and provide the platform to address for new ideas to revolutionize fishery and aquaculture in the state. Dr. Sahar Masud, I/C Fisheries Unit gave a detailed account of the different activities undertaken during the training programme and motivated the trainees to adopt the fish farming in a holistic approach by harvesting quality fish along with its value addition through product development for higher economic gains. |
