Cold war between Omar-Mehbooba intensifies in Jammu!

Jammu, Nov 10: An apparent cold war between National Conference, president, Omar Abdullah and his counterpart from the Peoples Democratic Party, Mehbooba Mufti has intensified after their visit to Jammu.
While the former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti had recently launched a veiled attack on her predecessor Omar for being a kind of politician who is active mostly on the Twitter alone, her former bete noire has responded in a similar way.
While Mehbooba couldn’t manage any big reception on reaching Jammu, Omar claimed to have got warm response.
Interestingly Omar took to the social media to make the claims, which many look at, as a veiled response to Mehbooba’s statement.
“Very grateful to all my @YNCJK colleagues in Jammu lead by @ajazjan for the warm welcome my father & I received outside the airport. Your courage & support gives us strength,” Omar Tweeted.
Mehbooba on the other hand couldn’t make any such tweet of getting a warm welcome in the winter capital has her arrival here was seen largely low-key.
It is pertinent to mention that Omar and Mehbooba are seen as old rivals.
Even after the abrogation of the special status of Jammu and Kashmir when the duo was initially detained at Hari Niwas Palace in Srinagar, the two had reportedly quarreled to level that senior officials had to intervene.
But as the altercations continued, finally, both of them has to be put in separate prisons.
Observers are already apprehensive about the fate of the so called Peoples Alliance for Gupkar Declaration, for which both Omar and Mehbooba happen to be among the prominent faces.
But both are seen as arch rivals who in the past wanted to show each other down.
When Mehbooba was the Chief Minister, voices seeking fresh probe into the murder of NC leader Haji Yousuf had gone shriller. During Mehbooba’s tenure victim’s family was accusing Omar Abdullah of being involved the death while Omar has been denying the charges.
Despite repeated attempts Mehbooba and Omar were not available for comments.
