Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 13: Colonel SS Pathania, President Sainik Samaj Party JKUT, expressed his deep pain and anguish over the proposal of revision in pension rules for Armed Forces officers and enhancement of age for other ranks in technical cadre and seryices. Post, historical victory of 1971.Congress had rewarded Armed Forces by cutting down their pension by 20 percent, with a corresponding increase in civil cadre. Fresh proposal, being worked out by Department of Military Affairs (DMA),under the dynamic and munificent command of Chief of Defence Staff, is mulling over a cut of 50 percent for the officer, who earn their pension, after completing their stipulated service of 20 years, as per the term of engagement. Courage, velour, bravery and supreme sacrifices made by 20 brave hearts, in Galwan valley under Colonel Santosh Babu and his team, has been totally forgotten, with utter contempt and disregard. lnterestingly DMA has 38 officers from IAS cadre against 3 officers, from Armed Forces, whereas it should have been other way around, on the lines of Pentagon in USA. Proposed revision in penslon rule combined with age enhancement in officer cadre will be disastrous in form of a double whammy, which is bound to lead to a disgruntled, demotivated, demoralized and indifferent cadre officers, almost ruining the leadership in one of the best army in the world. Young profile of Armed Forces will also get adversely affected, as 3 years delay will take place in promotion, due to enhancement of retirement age from existing 54 years to 57 years. |
