Multiple ceasefire violations by Pak along LoC, 4 security forces personnel martyred | | | S Tahir-ul Haq

BARAMULLA, Nov 13: In a major flare up at the LoC in north Kashmir, Pakistan resorted to heavy unprovoked ceasefire violation in multiple areas along the Line of Control (LoC) resulted in the death of nine persons including 4 Indian soldiers and many were injured on Friday. Sources said that four soldiers, a BSF officer martyred besides four civilians were killed in north Kashmir while dozens sustained injuries and property too was damaged in Pakistan shelling. The exchange of shelling took place in Kamalkote and Hajipir Sectors of Uri Baramulla, Dawar, Keran, and Nowgam sectors Two Indian army soldiers were martyred and four civilians, including one woman, were killed by Pakistani shelling in Uri Sector. He said one civilian was shifted to GMC Baramulla for advanced treatment. Three houses were completely damaged, while five houses were partially damaged in Uri due to Pakistan shelling, said local residents of Uri. However an official said that the slain soldiers were identified as Gubodh Gosh and Havaldar Harden Chandra Rai. The deceased civilians were identified as Taib Ahmad Mir s/o Abdul Jalil, r/o Sultan Daki Uri, Farooqa Begum w/o Bashir Ahmed Dar r/o Balakote Uri and Irshad Hussain s/o Quramat Hussain, r/o Bandi Sarie Kamalkote. Five civilians were also injured in Uri due to Pakistan shelling and they have been referred to hospitals for advance treatment, among which the condition of two are said to be critical. Due to cross border some persons mostly children were injured at Village Dasi Bagtoore in Gurez. Medical team rushed them and shifted them to hospital. They were identified as Rehana Khursheed (14), Daughter of khursheed Ahamd Ganie, Munaza Jamsheed (12), Daughter of Jamsheed Ahamad, Jabar Ahamad Ganie (72), Son of Laasi Ganie and Saja Bagum (62) all the resident of Bagtore Gurez. Reports from Gurez said that Pakistan resorted to massive firing and heavy mortar shelling in Tulail and Bagtore Sectors in which one army soldier was reportedly martyred while four others received injuries following which they were evacuated to Hospital. A Border Security Force Sub Inspector was killed while a jawan injured in Nowgam Sector of Kupwara and that was identified as Rakesh Dhobal of Uttrakhand. Another jawan, Constable Vasu Raja, sustained splinter injuries on his arms and cheeks. He was deployed at the same forward location. Srinagar based Defence Spokesperson Colonel Rajest Kalia said that three soldiers were martyred in Pakistan shelling. In a statement, Colonel Rajesh Kalia said that three soldiers were martyred and four were injured in “unprovoked ceasefire violations” along the LoC spread across multiple sectors including Dawar, Keran, Uri and Naugam in north Kashmir. “Substantial damage” was caused to Pakistan Army's infrastructure besides casualties across the LoC in retaliatory action. Several ammunition dumps, FOL dumps and multiple (militant) launch pads have been damaged,” he said in the statement. The statement further said that, “Pakistan initiated unprovoked Ceasefire Violation along the LoC spread across multiple sectors to include Dawar, Keran, and Uri & Naugam. Pakistan used Mortars & other weapons. Pakistan deliberately targeted civilian areas,” he said. Three Indian Army soldiers have been martyred in action and three soldiers were injured, he said. “The Nation salutes their supreme sacrifice,” he said, adding, “Own troops retaliated strongly causing substantial damage to Pakistan Army's infrastructure and casualties across the LoC, defence sources added. However sources said that panic has gripped the whole area due to heavy shelling that was going on in the Uri sector till the last reports came in. |
