Army rescue 10 people trapped in snowfall at Sinthan pass | | | Early Times Report KISHTWAR, Nov 16: The Army in Kishtwar District comes to the rescue of 10 people, including two women and a child, after they were trapped in heavy snowfall at high altitude Sinthan pass situated at an altitude of 12500 feet on Kishtwar-Anantnag-Srinagar National Highway. As per the details available with Early Times, after receiving information about the trapping of some civilians in snow storm, the army unit of 11 RR stationed at Aloo farm Sinthan swung into action and launched the operation to rescue the trapped civilians. After walking for around 5/6 hours, the rescue team reach to the trapped civilians who were on way from Srinagar to Kishtwar and suddenly the snow started as a result of which the road become slippery and was not worthy to move ahead with the vehicles. The rescue team braving the heavy snowfall and slippery conditions shifted the trapped civilians to Aloo farm where they were provided food, shelter and medication before they were handed to their family members. The area has witnessed around 3 feet snow till the last reports came in. Speaking on this occasion, the locals thanks the Indian army for saving the lives of the civilians. |
