Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 14: The Jammu and Kashmir government on Monday constituted a committee for monitoring overall process in the identification and restoration of water bodies in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. As per the order, the committee will constitute of Administrative Secretary, Forest Ecology & Environmental Department as Chairperson which also include 7 other members. "Sanction is hereby accorded to the constitution of a committee, comprising of the following, for monitoring overall progress in the identification, protection and restoration of water bodies in the Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir", reads the order issued by General Administration Department. As per the order, the committee will identify and protect all water bodies in the UT of J&K, assign Unique Identification Number to each water body and to remove encroachments in and around the water bodies. The committee will also prevent the dumping of waste in the water bodies, to maintain water quality as per the recognized, to restore water bodies by taking other appropriate steps, involving the Panchayats and the Community, utilizing the financial resources available from different sources. Also, to evolve further monitoring mechanism as well as Grievance Redressal Mechanism (GRM) and will submit periodical reports to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB)/Secretary, Ministry of JalShakti, Government of India.
