SRINAGAR, Dec 14: The number of Corona Virus positive cases in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reached 1, 16,254 as 246 new cases of virus were reported today. The death toll due to the virus reached 1,802 with three deaths being reported in past 24 hours. Jammu district reported 87 fresh cases of COVID-19 followed by Srinagar district 58 cases, Budgam district 16 cases, Bandipora district 11 cases, Baramulla and Ramban districts nine cases each, Anantnag district eight cases, Udhampur and Kishtwar districts seven cases each, Pulwama and Ganderbal districts six cases each, Kupwara and Reasi districts five cases each, Kathua and Samba districts four cases each, Rajouri district three cases and Kulgam district one case. Jammu district in the Jammu division reported two fresh Corona Virus deaths followed by a death in Ganderbal district in the Kashmir division. So far 1,152 people have lost their lives due to the virus in Kashmir valley while as in Jammu division 650 people have lost their lives due to the virus up to this date. The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 246 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 126 from Jammu division and 120 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 1, 16,254. Also three COVID-19 deaths have been reported; two from Jammu division and one from Kashmir division. Moreover, 387 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 169 from Jammu division and 218 from Kashmir division. Out of 1, 16,254 positive cases, 4,558 are active positive, 1, 09,894 have recovered and 1,802 have died; 650 in Jammu division and 1,152 in Kashmir division. Out of 33, 66,391 test results available, 32, 50,137 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 8, 31,007 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 22,094 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 4,558 in isolation and 28,693 in home surveillance. Besides, 77, 38,600 persons have completed their surveillance period. The bulletin said that Srinagar has 24,317 positive cases, 1,114 active positive, 22,770 recovered, 433 deaths; Baramulla has 7,746 positive cases, 196 active positive, 7,381 recovered, 169 deaths; Budgam has 7,327 positive cases, 287 active positive, 6,935 recovered, 105 deaths; Kupwara has 5,372 positive cases, 175 active positive, 5,109 recovered, 88 deaths; Pulwama has 5,300 positive cases, 165 active positive, 5,047 recovered, 88 deaths. “Anantnag has 4,667 positive cases, 102 active positive, 4,483 recovered, 82 deaths; Bandipora has 4,548 positive cases, 113 active positive, 4,378 recovered, 57 deaths; Ganderbal has 4,358 positive cases, 92 active positive, 4,225 recovered, 41 deaths; Kulgam has 2,628 positive cases, 67 active positive, 2,509 recovered, 52 deaths and Shopian has 2,431 positive cases, 102 active positive, 2,292 recovered, 37 deaths,” reads the bulletin. The bulletin said that Jammu has 22,257 positive cases, 802 active positive, 21,123 recovered 332 deaths; Udhampur has 3,956 positive cases, 273 active positive, 3,630 recovered, 53 deaths; Rajouri has 3,705 positive cases, 232 active positive, 3,420 recovered, 53 deaths; Doda has 3,296 positive cases, 137 active positive, 3,101 recovered, 58 deaths; Kathua has 3,021 positive cases, 117 active positive, 2,859 recovered, 45 deaths. “Kishtwar has 2,671 positive cases, 148 active positive, 2,502 recovered, 21 deaths; Samba has 2,627 positive cases, 217 active positive, 2,376 recovered, 34 deaths; Poonch has 2,420 positive cases, 30 active positive, 2,368 recovered, 22 deaths; Ramban has 2,040 positive cases, 79 active positive, 1,940 recovered, 21 deaths and Reasi has 1,567 positive cases, 110 active positive, 1446 recovered, 11 deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 1, 16,254 positive cases in J&K, 11,026 have been reported as travelers. The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory. ENDS |
