Early Times Report

Poonch, Dec 16: The people living in Poonch as well as Rajouri districts are without any fear moving around the crowded places without following COVID-19 SOPs and the concerned administration is sitting quietly by taking no action against violators.
While talking to Early Times, a social activist and advocate Avinash Khanna said that administration of these twin districts have been taking COVID-19 lightly and seem that they are sitting quiet as no action is being taken against the violators.
“People move freely in markets and in different departments without wearing masks and maintaining social distancing. Not only this, even the departments are also not bothered to ensure the following of SOPs by the visitors in their offices,” he alleged.
Locals alleged that the police also ignore this aspect in public transport where passengers can be seen sitting very close to each other and many not wearing masks which actually protect from spearing of virus. Police should stop vehicles at various points to check the compliance of guidelines.
“It has also been observed that genuine corona warriors particularly in police departments were not honoured by the department and some unknown people were projected as corona warriors which seriously hurt the sentiment of the real fighters,” they alleged.
The government should take some serious action against such administration which have been sitting silent on this issue and people are violating SOPs posing a more serious threat to the community. When contacted higher officials said that they are performing the task which has been assigned to them but people are not co operating.
