A private transporter continues to charge COVID-19 fare despite withdrawal by Govt in Pouni | | | Ajay Sharma
Early Times Report
Reasi, Dec 16: A private transporter has allegedly been charging exorbitant fare from the public despite withdrawal of 30 percent hike in fare by the government in village Sudeen of Tehsil Pouni of District Reasi. Locals alleged that a passenger auto (Magic) runs on Pouni to Sudeen route and the total distance of this route is around 11 kms but the driver has forcibly been charging previous passenger fare which was increased by the concerned department due to COVID-19. They further alleged that not only this, even auto drops one kilometre before the specified destination putting villagers in difficult situations. “Earlier fare was fixed Rs 25 and now after withdrawal of increased fare, it should have been around Rs 13-14 but still this auto driver has been charging previous fare,” they alleged further adding that there is nexus between auto owner, agent and department due to which no action is taken against the offender transporter. While talking to Early Times, the local Sarpanch Neelam Kumari Sharma said that she had also lodged this complaint with concerned officials but no action has been taken till date. Meanwhile, when contacted Inspector MVD Billoria Singh admitted that he also got a complaint about and will talk to the concerned agent so that people might not face problems anymore. |
