| Tajinder Singh raises plights of unemployed Dental Surgeons since 2008 | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 16: Renowned social activist Sardar Tajinder Singh sought interference of LG Manoj Sinha to look into the matter of dental surgeons which are unemployed since 2008.
Tajinder Singh said that from last 12 years government has failed to advertise even a single post of dental surgeons in J&K UT, depriving a large chunk of population particularly of rural areas of Jammu and Kashmir and leaving thousands of trained dentist unemployed. Tajinder said that posts dental surgeons in health department were advertised Last in 2008 and since the thousand of dental surgeons are hopeless and jobless.
He said that around 5000 dental surgeons are registered in J&K UT and out of these about 3200 are Unemployed and every year more than 300 new BDS are piling this heap of unemployment.
Tajinder said that there are about 15000 posts for medical doctors, the number posts for dentist is only somewhere around 550 & there is large population particularly in rural areas which don’t have proper access to dental health service even after so many health schemes being implemented in J&K UT.
Tajinder said that after a long hunger strike in 2014 , the unemployed dental surgeons had handed over a petition to J&K Govt. but nothing was done to absorb them.
