SRINAGAR, Dec 21: Jammu & Kashmir reported 232 new cases of Corona Virus following which the total number of positive cases in the union territory reached 1, 18,495. The death toll due to the virus reached 1844 as three deaths were reported in the past 24 hours or so. Jammu district in the Jammu division reported 97 fresh cases of COVID-19 followed by Srinagar district 36 cases, Pulwama district 18 cases, Kupwara district 15 cases, Budgam district 10 cases, Baramulla and Kathua districts nine cases each, Udhampur district eight cases, Reasi district six cases, Ganderbal district five cases, Anantnag and Shopian districts four cases each, Poonch district three cases and Kulgam, Rajouri, Doda & Samba districts two cases each. Srinagar, Jammu and Ganderbal districts each reported a fresh Corona Virus death in the past 24 hours or so. So far 1,168 people have lost their lives to the virus in the Kashmir valley while in Jammu division 676 virus related deaths have taken place up to this date. The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 232 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 129 from Jammu division and 103 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 1, 18,495. Also three COVID-19 deaths have been reported; one from Jammu division and two from Kashmir division. Moreover, 458 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 192 from Jammu division and 266 from Kashmir division. Out of 1, 18,495 positive cases, 3,625 are active positive, 1, 13,026 have recovered and 1,844 have died; 676 in Jammu division and 1,168 in Kashmir division. Out of 35, 51,273 test results available, 34, 32,778 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 8, 49,799 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 20,628 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 3,625 in isolation and 27,692 in home surveillance. Besides, 7, 96,010 persons have completed their surveillance period. The bulletin said that Srinagar has 24,752 positive cases, 667 active positive, 23,642 recovered, 443 deaths; Baramulla has 7,852 positive cases, 171 active positive, 7,511 recovered, 170 deaths; Budgam has 7,432 positive cases, 186 active positive, 7,140 recovered, 106 deaths; Kupwara has 5,455 positive cases, 161 active positive, 5,206 recovered, 88 deaths; Pulwama has 5,428 positive cases, 190 active positive, 5,150 recovered, 88 deaths. “Anantnag has 4,744 positive cases, 127 active positive, 4,535 recovered, 82 deaths; Bandipora has 4,610 positive cases, 94 active positive, 4,458 recovered, 58 deaths; Ganderbal has 4,427 positive cases, 133 active positive, 4,251 recovered, 43 deaths; Kulgam has 2,640 positive cases, 63 active positive, 2,524 recovered, 53 deaths and Shopian has 2,461 positive cases, 87 active positive, 2,337 recovered, 37 deaths,” reads the bulletin. The bulletin said that Jammu has 22,952 positive cases, 783 active positive, 21,825 recovered, 344 deaths; Udhampur has 4,023 positive cases, 145 active positive, 3,821 recovered, 57 deaths; Rajouri has 3,777 positive cases, 224 active positive, 3,499 recovered, 54 deaths; Doda has 3,342 positive cases, 89 active positive, 3,193 recovered, 60 deaths; Kathua has 3,114 positive cases, 90 active positive, 2,976 recovered, 48 deaths. “Kishtwar has 2,704 positive cases, 86 active positive, 2,597 recovered, 21 deaths; Samba has 2,681 positive cases, 216 active positive, 2,429 recovered, 36 deaths; Poonch has 2,434 positive cases, 27 active positive, 2,385 recovered, 22 deaths; Ramban has 2,072 positive cases, 40 active positive, 2,011 recovered, 21 deaths and Reasi has 1,595 positive cases, 46 active positive, 1,536 recovered, 13 deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 1, 18,495 positive cases, 11,133 have been reported as travelers. The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory. |
