JKSSB reserves 172 posts for SCs, 195 for STs under PM package for Kashmiri Migrants | Are SCs, STs also among Kashmiri Migrants? | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Dec 21: Though it is generally believed and corroborated by the factual details that maximum of the Kashmiri migrants are Kashmiri Pandits and belonged to the General Category but Jammu and Kashmir Service Selection Board (JKSSB) has reserved over 8 percent posts for Scheduled Castes and around 10 percent posts for Scheduled Tribes out of total posts advertised under Prime Minister package, inviting much criticism from the community. The JKSSB vide advertisement number 03 of 2020 dated 1/12/2020 had advertised a total of 1997 posts under Prime Minister Package for Kashmiri Migrants and Non-Migrants Kashmiri Pandits. However out of the total posts over 8 percent posts that was a total of 172 posts have been reserved for Scheduled Caste population while around 10 percent of total posts that is 195 have been reserved for Scheduled Tribes (STs). The reservation of posts of SCs and STs has generated a debate as to whether there were SCs and STs among the Kashmiri Migrants who had migrated during the emergence of armed insurgency in Kashmir valley or among the non-migrant Kashmiri Pandits. “Most of the Kashmiri Migrants are Kashmiri Pandits and belong to the General Category and fall under the Open Merit only. There is no question of any SC or ST among the Kashmiri Migrants or non-migrant Kashmiri Pandits”, Chairman Panun Kashmir Ajay Charangoo said, alleging that it was a subversive mischief by some elements in the administration to grab the KPs’ right. On being questioned if there were Kashmiri Migrants under ALC/IB or RBA category, Charangoo said that there could be some members but they have been ascertaining the same but reiterated that there were no SCs or STs among the Kashmiri migrants. Secretary of JKSSB Sachin Jamwal said that the reservation criteria have been applied as per laid down guidelines and recruitment rules. “If there will be some candidates, who have SC or ST certificates along with the Migrant certificate, those candidates will fall under these two categories”, Jamwal said. However, it is still unclear as if there would be no or negligible eligible candidates available under the reserved categories posts, whether these posts would be transferred to Open Merit category or remained unfulfilled. |
