Jammu, Dec 29: The entire administration of Poonch district has to go for COVID testing as one of the newly elected members of the District Development Councils (DDCs) of the district was tested positive on Tuesday. The positive DDC member has taken oath along with other newly elected members on Monday in a function which was attended by senior officers of the administration. Within minutes after getting information that one of the DDC members had been tested positive, district administration directed all the participants of the oath ceremony held yesterday to undergo isolation and to get themselves tested. “One newly elected DDC member reported covid 19 +ve. All who have attended the oath taking ceremony are advised to isolate and get themselves tested. General public is advised not to visit the DC office for the next few days. Panic gripped authorities as one the returnee from the United Kingdom has tested positive. Principal of the GMC Jammu has admitted that one person, who was returned from the UK has been tested positive. Reports said that authorities have conducted tests as many as 38 persons who were returned from the UK during the last one month. Reliable sources said that samples of this patient has been sent outside J&K tests which would detect a new virus strain , which has created chaos in the UK. ch shall also be tested”, DM Poonch tweeted from his official twitter handle. Reports said that DDC member from Mankote constituency of Mendhar Sub-Division tested positive. The member has himself disclosed about the positive report and appealed to all those who attended Monday’s function to go for a test. Reports said that the DDC member, who was tested positive, is affiliated with the Congress party. He also took oath yesterday in Poonch Degree College as DDC member. The oath taking ceremony was attended by hundreds of civil society members, political leaders and government officers. Higher-ups have asked all the participants including newly elected DDC members and officers who were present during the oath taking ceremony held on Monday to immediately isolate themselves and to get themselves tested also in days to come as per SOPs of the COVID issued by the Union Home Ministry. |
