Constructed by SICOP over a year back, toilet complex in industrial area awaits inauguration | | | ASHWANI SHARMA Early Times Report UDHAMPUR, Jan 16: Constructed by SICOP over a year back, the toilet complex in Industrial area at Battal Ballian is yet to be thrown open for public use. However, the absence of the facility is forcing the people to use deserted fields and open areas to ease themselves thereby giving a setback to PM Modi's Swachch Bharat Abhiyan. "Work on this toilet complex started about two years back and it got completed about a year ago but is yet to start," Fateh Singh, a local of the area said adding that outside drivers, labourers and others use fields to defecate as there is no such facility nearby. Raghuvir Gandotra, Senior Vice President of Association of Industries when contacted said they had earlier brought the issue to the notice of those at the helm in SICOP. "They claimed that there were no Safai Karamchairs available to work in the toilet complex and that is why it was not started for public use," Gandotra informed, adding that Association of Industries was assured that tender for the personnel to work in the toilet complex would be floated soon but this never happened till date. He agreed that the toilet complex in the area is a vital need for the welfare of the working class and others in the industrial area. Estate Manager SICOP Udhampur, Raj Kumar when contacted said that process for putting the toilet complex to public use is on and soon tenders will be floated for personnel to work there after which the complex will be thrown open for public use. |
