SRINAGAR, Jan 23: As many as 11 districts of the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reported no Corona Virus in the past 24 hours even though 94 new cases of virus were reported in other nine districts. With one fresh death the death toll reached 1,929; positive cases reaching 1, 23,946. Udhampur, Rajouri, Doda, Kathua, Samba, Kishtwar, Poonch, Ramban, Reasi, Pulwama and Bandipora reported no fresh COVID-19 case. Srinagar district reported 38 new cases followed by Jammu district 29 cases, Anantnag district eight cases, Budgam district six cases, Ganderbal district four cases, Baramulla and Shopian districts three cases each, Kupwara district two cases and Kulgam district one case. Kupwara district in the Kashmir valley reported one fresh Corona Virus death with no death being reported from Jammu division. So far 1,210 people have died due to the virus in Kashmir valley while in Jammu division 729 people have fallen prey to the virus up to this date. The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 94 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 29 from Jammu division and 65 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 1, 23, 946. Also one COVID-19 death has been reported from Kashmir division. Moreover, 88 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 23 from Jammu division and 65 from Kashmir division. Out of 1, 23,946 positive cases, 1,103 are active positive, 1, 20,914 have recovered and 1,929 have died; 719 in Jammu division and 1,210 in Kashmir division. Out of 43, 84,771 test results available, 42, 60,825 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 10, 69,683 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 34,704 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 1,103 in isolation and 86,619 in home surveillance. Besides, 9, 45,328 persons have completed their surveillance period. The bulletin said that Srinagar has 26,005 positive cases, 269 active positive, 25,283 recovered, 453 deaths; Baramulla has 8,081 positive cases, 51 active positive, 7,857 recovered, 173 deaths; Budgam has 7,744 positive cases, 52 active positive, 7,575 recovered, 117 deaths; Pulwama has 5,690 positive cases, 61 active positive, 5,541 recovered, 88 deaths; Kupwara has 5,640 positive cases, 45 active positive, 5,500 recovered, 95 deaths. “Anantnag has 4,873 positive cases, 49 active positive, 4,740 recovered, 84 deaths; Bandipora has 4,685 positive cases, 25 active positive, 4,599 recovered, 61 deaths; Ganderbal has 4,589 positive cases, 74 active positive, 4,469 recovered, 46 deaths; Kulgam has 2,689 positive cases, 37 active positive, 2,598 recovered, 54 deaths and Shopian has 2,560 positive cases, 37 active positive, 2,484 recovered, 39 deaths,” reads the bulletin. The bulletin said that Jammu has 24,837 positive cases, 235 active positive, 24,232 recovered, 370 deaths; Udhampur has 4,193 positive cases, 30 active positive, 4,106 recovered, 57 deaths; Rajouri has 3,867 positive cases, six active positive, 3,806 recovered, 55 deaths; Doda has 3,428 positive cases, five active positive, 3,359 recovered, 64 deaths; Kathua has 3,252 positive cases, five active positive, 3,196 recovered, 51 deaths. “Samba has 2,826 positive cases, 75 active positive, 2,711 recovered, 40 deaths; Poonch has 2,489 positive cases, 31 active positive, 2,434 recovered, 24 deaths; Kishtwar has 2,731 positive cases, two active positive, 2,707 recovered, 22 deaths; Ramban has 2,130 positive cases, five active positive, 2104 recovered, 21 deaths and Reasi has 1,637 positive cases, nine active positive, 1,613 recovered, 15 deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 1, 23,946 cases 11,530 have been reported as travelers. The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
