8 leopard skins, 38 bear gall bladders, 4 musk dear pods seized in Anantnag; 1 person arrested | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT ANANTNAG, Jan 30: A joint team of Wildlife officials, Police and CRPF on Saturday raided a residential house in Sherpora locality of South Kashmir's Anantnag district and recovered eight (8) Leopard Skins, thirty Eight (38) Bear gall bladders and four (4) musk dear pods. During the raid one person was arrested and the contraband Wildlife products were seized. According to reports the joint team acted on a specific information provided by Wild Life Crime Control Bureau, New Delhi (WLCCB) and recovered a large quantity of contraband wildlife products from Shirpora locality in Anantnag town. The recoveries include eight leopard skins, four musk deer pods and 38 bear gall bladders, Anantnag Police said in a statement. They said that one person, namely, Gul Mohammad Ganai S/O Abdul Rehman Ganai of Shirpora Anantnag was arrested. A case FIR no. 16/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered in Police Station Anantnag and further investigations are underway. Significantly, a large quantity of contraband wildlife items have been recovered in Jammu, as well, as part of the same operation. |
