BJP mulls ‘new team’ to monitor Kashmir affairs! | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 7: In a bid to put in new lease of life in its party affairs in Kashmir, the Bharatiya Janta Party looks ahead to rope in new team from within the party leadership for the crucial assignment. Sources said the senior leaders of the party have started looking for the faces who can “best fit in” for the task of running the party’s Kashmir affairs and also to monitor the performance. It was reliably learnt that the party looks ahead to expand its base in the valley as the locals are “fed up of the last seventy years of politics.” Sources said at least three names are under the active consideration of the party who could be made to monitor party activities in Kashmir. Sources said the national party looks ahead to send them on Kashmir assignment on rotation basis to see the performance. Sources said the party is evolving a “scientific system of performance evaluation in Kashmir” and that the leaders would be “rated as per their deliverance on the ground.” Sources said the BJP leadership in New Delhi is of the opinion that the party has not been able to do much on the ground to rope in public support though the party runs the country. Sources said the winning of mere three seats from the valley in the recently held District Development Council elections has made the party to “introspect about the party’s performance at the grassroots.” “BJP has a big scope in Kashmir that this potential needs to be explored to its best,” said source close to the party, on the condition of anonymity. Sources said the BJP would also ask the team to know what the common people on the street look ahead to be delivered by the government. “Basically the party looks ahead to gain public goodwill in a much better and organized manner and thus presence of some leaders from the center will be much needed,” said a party source. |
