Workshop on Juvenile Justice Act held at Kishtwar

Kishtwar, Feb 19: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kishtwar Ashok Kumar Sharma today chaired a workshop to discuss the effective implementation of Juvenile Justice Act in the district.
The workshop was attended by Principal Magistrate JJB, Sudhir Khajuria, Assistant Public Prosecutor, Mansoor Ahmed, Chairperson CWC, Mohal Lal Thakur, Dy SP HQ Davinder singh, ALC Kishtwar Anoop Kunar, DCPO Kishtwar, Tariq Parvez Qazi, Protection Officer Touseef Iqbal Butt, Legal Officer Basharat Nazir, Superintendents of Child Care Institutions, members of the CWC, JJB , representatives of District Child Protection Units and Traffic and Police officers and officials. The workshop was held to aware the stakeholders about child’s rights, role of administration and society towards child in need of care and protection, children in conflict with law besides role and responsibility of police and traffic police besides civil society towards child protection.
During the discussion, Assistant Public Prosecutor, Mansoor Ahmed briefed the participants about their role as enshrined under Juvenile Justice System.
He emphasized upon the social and Non- Governmental organisations to work in close coordination with the government agencies for proper rehabilitation of the children in need of care and protection and child in conflict with law.
Principal Magistrate impressed upon the officers to play an active role in running the JJ system and said that there is dire need for coordination so that CPS is smoothly implemented at the ground level.
He asked the participants to make holistic and continuous efforts to ensure wholesome development of such children to enable them to lead a dignified life.
District Child Protection Officer, Tariq Parvez Qazi informed about the status of work done in the district.
CWC Chairperson, Mohan Lal Thakur threw light on the guidelines and Juvenile Justice Act and the role of the government and NGOs towards the cause.
Member Juvenile Justice Board, Wazir Ahmed Waza, Medical Superintendent Dr. Parvez Ahmed also spoke on the subject.
