Rajouri, Feb 19: The Rural Development Department in Sunderbani has allegedly favoured a single family by releasing Rs 2.86 lakh for road construction which leads to only one house. Sources told Early Times that a senior RDD official got the amount released for a family for the construction of road for the family that is ostensibly very close to him. They further informed that of the total amount out of Rs 2.86 lakh, Rs 2 lakh were released from CD Panachayat Fund and Rs 86,000 was managed from MGNREGA funds. According to the guidelines MGNREGA fund can’t be used for the benefit of a single family especially in road construction. Moreover, the amount was deliberately fixed at Rs 2.86 lakh by the department to avoid a tender process, which is otherwise mandatory for the work over Rs 3 lakhs. Block Development Officer Sunderbani, Raman Sharma, when contacted, said that he would look into the matter. Meanwhile, when ADC Sunderbani Vinod Kumar was contacted, he said that he would initiate an inquiry in this connection and appropriate action will be taken against the erring officials. |
