KATRA, Feb 21: The archers of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board’s Sports Complex, Katra have brought laurels by winning 69 medals at the 3-day J&K Archery Championship which was organised by Archery Association of J&K at Jammu during 17th - 20th February. As many as 24 archers trained and groomed at the Shrine Board’s Sports Complex, Katra participated in all the categories of this championship and won 33 gold, 20 silver and 16 bronze medals. In Indian round boys and girls archery events, Bhawani won 4 gold, one silver and one bronze medal, Parrive clinched 3 gold, 6 silver and one bronze, Pankaj got 3 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze, while Sakshi won 3 gold medals. In Recurve round boys and girls competitions, Bhrishav and Smilee won 2 gold medals each. In Compound round boys and girls events, Sunaina Devi clinched 4 gold, one silver and one bronze, Deepa got 2 gold, one silver and one bronze, Ankush Thapa won 2 gold and one silver while Shubham got 2 gold and 2 silver medals. Mr. Ramesh Kumar, Chief Executive Officer, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board has congratulated all the archers for their excellent performance. He said that the Shrine Board’s Sports Complex is being developed as a centre of excellence and impressed upon the sportspersons to take optimum benefit from the state-of-the-art equipment and other facilities made available at the Sports Complex. It is pertinent to mention that the Shrine Board’s Sports Complex has been producing sportspersons of national and international standards in various sporting disciplines viz., Archery, Athletics, Judo, Shooting, Badminton etc. who have been showing promising results in varied competitions. |
