Primary School Telta awaits own building | | | ASHWANI SHARMA
EARLY TIMES REPORT
UDHAMPUR, Feb 21: The Government Primary School in village Telta of Panchayat Sunari in Udhampur under SSA has not got its own building even after a long wait of seven years thereby exposing the tall claims of the government about creating proper infrastructure in the education sector. Sources told Early Times that the Telta School is not a case in isolation as many more institutions more or less are in the same condition. Started in year 2014 under SSA scheme, Government Primary School Telta under Zone Tikri, came into existence after the villagers donated a 7/7 kacha room with shed over it so that with time the Education Department may construct its own school building for the institute, ironically which has not happened till now. Locals of the area informed that only one teacher is there in the school having strength of 12 students and running five classes in a single room. “We want our children to study in this school but it lacks proper infrastructure. In absence of adequate facilities parents are forced to opt for another school for their children,” Chanchal Singh, a resident of the village said. “We appeal to higher authorities to look into the matter and construct a building for the school so that the students may get education in a good environment,” he maintained Despite repeated attempts CEO PD Sharma could not be contacted for comment. |
