Samba, Feb 21: Samba Police foiled an attempt to smuggle bovine in the jurisdiction of Police Station Ghagwal by rescuing 21 bovines at naka NHW, Tapyal.
Acting on reliable information regarding smuggling of bovines towards Valley, a Police Party of PS Ghagwal while performing vehicle checking duty signalled to stop a truck bearing Regd. No. JK02CC-7043 coming from Kathua side and heading towards Valley.
Instead of stopping the vehicle, the driver accelerated the speed of the vehicle and abandoned it a few metres away from the naka. However, the driver managed to escape from the spot taking advantage of darkness. During checking of the said vehicle, 21 cattle were found laden inside the vehicle without any permission. All the cattle were rescued and shifted to safer places. The vehicle used for transporting the bovines was seized on spot. In this connection, a case FIR No. 42/2021 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act stands registered at PS Ghagwal and investigation started.
