EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Feb 21: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) J&K Executive Member Raman Suri said that the Government had effected transfer of powers from the judiciary to the executive with a purpose to help people, but now the situation is that the commoners are not getting slots for two to four months due to online procedures, and even when they get a slot, in case any official is absent on the designated day, people are again asked to seek another date online, which causes unnecessary delay in the registration process. He said, lack of proper communication has resulted into a sheer mess wherein some officials are still asking for PRC, a document which has been rendered redundant after abrogation of Article 370. Earlier, only nine Judges were designated to do the registration of documents that took around one-two hours per day, after which they used to pursue the regular court matters. The process was seamless with no pendency for even a single day, however the same process is now taking upto four months in many areas, he said, adding that this is causing huge inconvenience to the commoners. Urging Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to direct revenue officials to streamline their functioning and ensure time bound registration of documents as well as appoint officials exclusively for this job, so that people get easy and direct access to sub-registrars and registrars which will enhance transparency and accountability. |
