GDC Nagrota celebrates World Scout Day | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 22: The NSS unit of Government Degree College Nagrota celebrated World Scout Day. This day is celebrated every year on 22nd of February to commemorate its founder Robert Baden Powell who started scout movement in UK in the year 1907. This movement also encouraged the other countries of the world to make scouts The event was inaugurated by Attar Singh Kotwal, Principal, GDC, Nagrota. While speaking on the occasion, he emphasized on the essence of celebrating Scouts Day in the educational institutions. Iqbal Quasim, the in charge of NSS unit acted as the resource person for the event. His lecture highlighted the aims and objectives of making scouts and guides in the schools and the colleges. The function then proceeded with the participation from the NSS students of the college. All the participants sung the various patriotic songs which inculcate the sense of patriotism among the students. At first there was group song headed by Rozilla Sanotra and then there were solo songs sung by Priyanka and Simran. The event was judged by the eminent members of the college namely Prof Neetu Singh, Prof. Harmeet Kour, Prof Manisha Kumari and Prof Sunita Singh. Then there was a valedictory function for the event. Principal, GDC Nagrota gave the certificates to all the students who participated in the event. |
