Top BJP leader wants to be relevant on Kashmir! | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 22: “Unnerved” by reports that his role was no more required for politics in Jammu and Kashmir, a senior leader of the Bharatiya Janta Party in New Delhi who has been largely sidelined by the party from “Kashmir affairs” wants to be relevant for the same and has been lobbying hard. Sources said the BJP leader, who in the past was seen as a main “interface” between politicians in Kashmir and the right-wing party leadership in the national capital, was allegedly sidelined around two years ago, as he couldn’t “do much on the ground for the party interests.” Sources said he was largely accused of being more concerned about the interests of the local politicians than that of the national party. Now, however, he is lobbying with some youth leaders from various political parties in Jammu and Kashmir. Sources said he is in close contact with some youth leaders in Kashmir and has been sharing dais with them at various events of political importance “only to show his party that he can still be used as interlocutor in J&K.” Sources said the BJP leader wants to “sell before his party” the idea of evolving a new alliances of youth leaders. Sources said the BJP leader is in touch with atleast three local youth leaders in Kashmir and wants to showcase it as a “major package” before New Delhi for his personal “image building.” “Actually he is seen as a failure for politics on Kashmir but to be relevant on the issue for reasons best known to him, he is making such attempts,” said a politician on the condition of anonymity. Sources said the leader is feeling insecure since the day BJP banked on other senior leaders for campaigning during the recently held District Development Council elections. Sources said BJP is satisfied with the performance of such leaders during the campaigning for the DDC elections. |
